Century Building by day
Century Building was designed by Marcus Barlow, one of the more notable Australian architects due to his extensive body of works in the Melbourne CBD (he also designed The Manchester Unity Building.)
Its was designed with a commercial gothic style and influenced by the art deco movement and is reminiscent of the grand Art Deco buildings of New York City.
This print is part of an ongoing series of posters that exploring the iconic and sometimes understated architecture of Melbourne.
Each poster is digitally illustrated by hand and stripped of the everyday noise that normally surrounds these buildings. Doing this allows you to view the building with a sense of calm and isolation and experience the design in a way in which the architects skill is fully appreciated.
